Scottish Football Supporters

EDM number 1450 in 1997-98, proposed by Donald Gorrie on 22/06/1998.

That this House congratulates Scottish football fans on the great goodwill their behaviour abroad for many years and currently in France has rightly earned; urges them not to be upset by the ill-judged remarks of the Minister for Sport in England; and calls on the Minister to explain his statement on television that 'they (the Scottish fans} are so determined to show up the English that they are going out of their way to be unbelievably polite. The Scots are doing this quite deliberately', and to withdraw this slur on good ambassadors for this country.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
