BBC Coverage On Paedophilia

EDM number 148 in 1997-98, proposed by Bill Rammell on 19/06/1997.

That this House is shocked by the decision of the BBC to allow a self-confessed paedophile to appear on a day-time entertainment show; rejects the defence that a public entertainment programme is a suitable forum to give the public an insight into a paedophile's psyche; believes that this must have caused offence to many members of the public and particularly to victims of sexual abuse; calls on the Director-General of the BBC to issue an apology; and asks the Government to review the BBC's guidelines on interviews with criminals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
