Strike At Hillingdon Hospital
EDM number 1679 in 1997-98, proposed by Tony Benn on 21/10/1998.
That this House offers its sincere congratulations to all those courageous women trade unionists who have been on strike at Hillingdon Hospital for over three years in defence of their human rights, their jobs, wages and conditions, following the privatisation of their work by the Hillingdon Hospital Trust, and whose appeal, on the grounds of unfair dismissal, has now been upheld by an independent tribunal; and calls upon the Government to end the practice of privatisation in the public services and pledges its full support for other workers who decide, if it proves necessary, to take industrial action when they are subjected to the same unfair treatment by their employers.
This motion has been signed by a total of 25 MPs.
