Lobbyists

EDM number 318 in 1997-98, proposed by Paul Flynn on 29/07/1997.

That this House notes the depressing new influx into the Palace of Westminster of lobbyists convinced that alcohol is essential for persuading researchers to influence honourable Members to do the bidding of the rich commercial organisations that employ them; recognises the motive behind the employment of large numbers of ex-employees of the Labour Party and Labour Ministers; and calls on the Government to create a new restrictive code of conduct for commercial lobbyists that will make their potentially corrupting activities more transparent.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
