Transportation Of Natural Gas To Villages In Barnsley West And Penistone

EDM number 330 in 1997-98, proposed by Michael Clapham on 30/07/1997.

That this House is deeply concerned that in the approach towards the millennium there are still millions of households not connected to the TransCo gas network including the villages of Stainborough, Hood Green, Wortley, Green Moor and Crow Edge in the constituency of Barnsley West and Penistone forcing many households onto liquid gas which has increased in price substantially over the last 12 months; believes the provision of gas to be an essential service; and urges the Government to ensure that TransCo through the Regulator meets its obligations to transport gas wherever practicably possible to potential customers who want to use it.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
