Promotion Of The Advantages Of Serps
EDM number 889 in 1997-98, proposed by Paul Flynn on 05/03/1998.
That this House calls on the Government to promote the great advantages of SERPS as the basis of new second pensions; notes that the Eagle Star Life Assurance Company praised SERPS' enormous benefits of absolute portability, extremely low costs and efficient distribution systems; recalls that SERPS also provides pensions of predictable value that are fully inflation proof on a fairer basis than most occupational and personal schemes at less than a tenth of their costs; and urges the Government to overcome what Eagle Star described as the public's 'poor understanding' of SERPS by marketing enthusiastically this fine achievement by the previous Labour Government.
