Postal Addresses

EDM number 442 in 1998-99, proposed by John Randall on 17/03/1999.

That this House regrets the decision of Royal Mail not allow inclusion of Ickenham into the official postal address of residents who reside in the area of that name; further recognises that despite this area being a distinct geographical location the stated policy of not including appropriate geographical and community names leads to much confusion, distress and even financial loss when these addresses are part of a database sold on to third parties; and further calls on Royal Mail to include such relevant location names when requested by their customers.
