Bnp Election Broadcasts
EDM number 721 in 1998-99, proposed by Ken Livingstone on 14/06/1999.
That this House commends the Labour Party for its timely action in seeking a court injunction to ban the circulation of British National Party election material that constituted an incitement to racial hatred; concurs with the National Assembly against Racism, Jewish Council for Racial Equality, Stonewall and others which argued that the British National Party should not have been given free election broadcasts during the European elections, particularly in the light of the links between that party and the person alleged to have carried out the nail bomb attacks in London; believes that parties whose programmes incite racial hatred and violence should not be entitled to free election broadcasts, free circulation of their election material through the mail, or any other advantage of Britain's democratic electoral laws; and calls upon the Royal Mail to drop all disciplinary action immediately against postal workers who have refused to deliver BNP election material.
