Sail Shetland

EDM number 908 in 1998-99, proposed by James Wallace on 19/10/1999.

That this House congratulates Sail Shetland, Lerwick Port Authority, the sponsors, Balta-sail and all involved in Shetland's hosting of the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in Lerwick between 9th and 12th August; notes that the event was a showcase for Shetland's indigenous industries - seafood, agriculture, knitwear, crafts and tourism - and for the exceptional abilities of Shetland's musicians; and recognises that above all the event was a magnificent illustration of how a small, island community can work together to present a positive, exciting and vibrant event to the outside world.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
