Legality Of British Nuclear Weapons

EDM number 959 in 1998-99, proposed by Tony Benn on 29/10/1999.

That this House welcomes the recent judgement by a court in Scotland in a case where three women who were charged after they had disarmed an integral part of the UK Trident nuclear weapon system were acquitted by the sheriff on the grounds that their action was justified on account of the illegality and criminality of the UK Trident system; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to institute, as a matter of urgency, an independent, open and public audit of the nuclear weapons programme.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
