Bskyb And Market Dominance

EDM number 1046 in 1999-00, proposed by Linda Gilroy on 26/07/2000.

That this House welcomes the Office of Fair Trading's current inquiry into BSkyB's position in the Pay TV market; expresses concern that BSkyB is able to abuse its market dominance to the detriment of consumer choice and competition; and calls on the regulatory authorities to ensure that BSkyB is regulated effectively and that its broadcast and distribution businesses operate at genuine arm's length through accounting or structural separation.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
