Redundancies At Trw

EDM number 497 in 1999-00, proposed by Peter L Pike on 08/03/2000.

That this House is dismayed by the 450 redundancies at TRW Burnley announced on 2nd March; believes that every step possible should be taken to save these jobs and ensure the safeguarding of the other jobs at the Burnley site; expresses concern at sourcing production of car switchgear and components outside the EU as proposed by TRW; believes that these actions should be reconsidered; and recognises that Government assistance to the Rover Group should require United Kingdom production of components, wherever possible to keep employment in the car industry and motor component industry in the United Kingdom.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
