Urban Post Offices In The North East

EDM number 502 in 1999-00, proposed by Stephen Hepburn on 09/03/2000.

That this House calls on the Government to support the vital role that the urban sub-post offices play in North Eastern community life; notes the importance of their income from Benefits Agency work, without which they will be under serious threat of closure; and, in view of the closure of community banking facilities, calls upon the Government to accelerate its programmes of computerisation of the Post Office so that local post offices can fill this void.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
