Closure Of First Line Calls Centres In South Wales

EDM number 824 in 1999-00, proposed by Alan Williams on 08/06/2000.

That this House condemns the deplorable conduct of First Line Mobile Communications, which sacked 2,000 workers in Swansea and Cardiff without any warning; regards their contempt for the well-being of their workforce as being in keeping with nineteenth century worst practice; calls upon the Government and the Welsh Assembly to take all appropriate action to ensure that sacked workers receive redundancy payments; and urges that its conduct in South Wales is borne in mind if ever this firm seeks financial support from public funds.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
