London Underground Fares

EDM number 171 in 2000-01, proposed by Harry Cohen on 09/01/2001.

That this House notes that on 29th October 1999, when London Underground announced fare increases for 2000, it said that 'in a year's time, when we announce the Tube fares for 2001, we'll set out for passengers a detailed account of how our money has been spent', adding 'Our passengers deserve to know where the money has gone'; notes that this promise has not been fulfilled with the publication of the 2001 fares details in December; and further notes that as, according to the Capital Transport Campaign, underground passengers paid ú294 million through fares over and above the costs of running the Tube in 1999-2000, the promise to properly account for it should be kept.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
