National Missile Defence (Nmd)

EDM number 469 in 2000-01, proposed by Alan Simpson on 20/03/2001.

That this House welcomes the communique issued by the Prime Minister and President Bush following their discussions in Washington and the assurance that there would be no development of Fylingdales prior to completion of open consultations on the national missile defence (NMD) programme; notes that the Danish Government is in a similar position over their early warning station at Thule in Greenland and that the Danish parliament will have a full debate on the subject in May; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to have a full parliamentary debate on the implications of involving Fylingdales in the NMD programme.

This motion has been signed by a total of 59 MPs.
