Conduct Of Right Honourable Member For Richmond (Yorks)

EDM number 488 in 2000-01, proposed by Mike Gapes on 26/03/2001.

That this House recalls that at the height of the fuel protests and illegal blockades by hauliers and farmers which affected the whole country in September 2000 the Leader of the Opposition, the Right honourable Member for Richmond (Yorks), called for an immediate general election; notes that the Right honourable Member has recently called for the ruling out of a general election in May 2001 because of the foot and mouth crisis which is affecting a minority of the population and only some parts of the country; and believes that this is a clear example of the consistency of opportunism shown by the Right honourable Member for Richmond (Yorks).

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
