Support For Fishing

EDM number 622 in 2000-01, proposed by Austin Mitchell on 01/05/2001.

That this House urges the Government to extend whatever support, loans, tax or rate relief it provides for farming, businesses or tourism to the fishing industry in the light of the lower catches, reduced opportunities and financial difficulties caused by reduced quotas, closed access and longer lay ups, from which that industry has been suffering in a crisis which has gone largely unnoticed and unaided because of the attention focused on foot and mouth disease.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
