National Express Group

EDM number 1555 in 2001-02, proposed by Andrew Mackinlay on 03/07/2002.

That this House notes that the Strategic Rail Authority is proposing to combine all rail services operating from Liverpool Street Station into one new Greater Anglia franchise in 2004; further notes that the National Express Group have announced that they are 'keen to be at the forefront of that bidding process'; is bemused that the only time they seem enthusiastic to meet honourable Members in their region is when it suits their own selfish purpose; and considers that their failure to be sensitive to the needs and interests of their customers is reflected in their appalling stewardship of the c2c line (London, Tilbury, Southend line) and that this should be more than adequate to disqualify their application for the franchise being given any serious consideration by the Strategic Rail Authority.
