Referendum On Single Currency

EDM number 18 in 2001-02, proposed by Jane Griffiths on 20/06/2001.

That this House urges an early referendum on membership of the European single currency; applauds the decision of former Prime Minister, James Harold Wilson in 1975 to allow parliamentarians and ministers a free vote to campaign according to their consciences which settled the question of Europe for a generation; and calls upon the Government to adopt that successful strategy and to encourage a full and open debate in Westminster and the nation.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
