Total Fighting

EDM number 1072 in 2002-03, proposed by Howard Stoate on 14/04/2003.

That this House expresses its concern regarding the health and safety of those participating in the sport of Total Fighting and welcomes the recent investigation into the sport by Meridian TV's Focus series; notes that this sport, which is beginning to gain popularity in this country, allows participants to attack their opponents using methods such as kicking, wrestling and choking that are not permitted in other combat sports such as boxing; believes that the potential for serious injury upon participants is considerably greater than in other combat sports; and therefore calls upon the Government to introduce a comprehensive ban on Total Fighting in this country as soon as possible.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
