Colonel Tim Collins And The Royal Irish Regiment

EDM number 1303 in 2002-03, proposed by David Burnside on 03/06/2003.

That this House notes the sterling contribution made by Colonel Tim Collins of the First Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment in the war in Iraq; recognises his leadership qualities symbolised in his speech to his soldiers before the war and the fine performance of the regiment during the war; confidently expects an early and successful conclusion into any inquiries regarding the conduct of Colonel Collins and his regiment; and looks forward to a long-term role for both the First Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment and the three Home Battalions of the Royal Irish Regiment in defending the United Kingdom, its citizens at home in Great Britain and Northern Ireland and abroad in the finest traditions of the Royal Irish Regiment, the Ulster Defence Regiment and of the British Army.
