The Honours System

EDM number 1395 in 2002-03, proposed by Paul Farrelly on 11/06/2003.

That this House believes that the possible award of an OBE to David Beckham calls into question the advice given to Her Majesty in relation to the present honours system when it took until the year 2000 for the so-called 'forgotten five' members of England's 1966 world cup winning team - Alan Ball, George Cohen, Roger Hunt, Nobby Stiles and Ray Wilson - to be finally awarded the MBE and many community workers receive no honours recognition at all.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
