Comments From The Former Head Of The Jic On The Justification For War On Iraq

EDM number 1574 in 2002-03, proposed by Lynne Jones on 10/07/2003.

That this House notes the comments of Rodric Braithwaite, former head of the Joint Intelligence Committee, in a letter published in the 10th July edition of the Financial Times that 'fishmongers sell fish; warmongers sell war' and although 'the Prime Minister surely acted in good faith, it does look as though he seriously oversold his wares'; further notes Mr Braithwaite's assessment that 'the incentives for terrorists to attack us have probably been increased'; and calls for an independent inquiry into the way the Government sold its case for war to Parliament and to the public and the lessons to be learned from this.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
