BLAIR'S WAR BOOK AND NEED FOR JUDICIAL INQUIRY INTO IRAQ CONFLICT
EDM number 1686 in 2002-03, proposed by Alex Salmond on 15/09/2003.
That this House notes the contents of the book 'Blair's War' by Mr John Kampfner, the political editor of the New Statesman, which states that the Foreign Secretary sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister before the start of the Iraq war urging him not to commit UK forces, and that the Prime Minister agreed to go to war with the United States as early as April 2002 during a summit with President George W. Bush in Texas; and believes that these well-sourced claims make it essential that there is an independent judicial inquiry into the full background and circumstances of the Government's decision to go to war in Iraq.
