Firefighters Industrial Action
EDM number 501 in 2002-03, proposed by Hilton Dawson on 13/01/2003.
That this House is not prepared to accept the reduction in fire safety that will inevitably result from further industrial action or inappropriate reductions in fire cover; and calls upon both the Government and the Fire Brigades union to draw a line under the past and engage in sensible negotiations in a spirit of goodwill and compromise in order to achieve a reasonable agreement on pay and an agreed platform from which a well informed, effective modernisation can take place so that the country can look forward to better protection and the reduction of injury and death.
