Housing In Wales

EDM number 627 in 2002-03, proposed by Hywel Williams on 30/01/2003.

That this House believes that, given that house prices in many parts of Wales have risen far beyond the means of local people and that out-migration and in-migration have undermined the sustainability of local communities, there is a need for housing and planning policies which will fulfill the housing needs of the people of Wales and which will safeguard communities, the Welsh language and the natural environment; regrets that the Housing (Wales) Bill was talked out in the last session; and calls on the Government to provide local authorities with the means of intervention in the local housing market to ensure that local people have access to it, and that planning authorities frame their policies with due consideration of real local need.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
