Reporting On The War In Iraq

EDM number 968 in 2002-03, proposed by Paul Marsden on 26/03/2003.

That this House mourns the death of British journalists including the late Terry Lloyd and salutes those brave reporters trying to send impartial and fair coverage of the war in Iraq; urges the British media to use clear language when reporting the war in Iraq; deplores some journalists using technical and military jargon that act as euphemisms to reduce the implications of war; and hopes journalists and commentators will stop using particularly the terms, take out, soften up and clear out when they mean dropping bombs, firing missiles and killing people.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
