YOUNG PEOPLE'S AFFAIRS SELECT COMMITTEE
EDM number 1685 in 2003-04, proposed by Andy Burnham on 16/09/2004.
That this House notes with concern the growing disconnection between young people and the political process, locally and nationally; believes this trend is due in part to the under-representation of the views and voices of the 18 to 30 age group in the political arena and public debate, as highlighted by the iGeneration initiative in the Times; and calls on the parliamentary authorities to find ways in which young people's views can be better represented in parliamentary proceedings; and calls for the establishment of a Young People's Affairs Select Committee.
This motion has been signed by a total of 38 MPs.
