Postal Services In Rural Scotland

EDM number 1764 in 2003-04, proposed by Mike Weir on 19/10/2004.

That this House is concerned that moves by Postcomm, the postal regulator, to open up mail deliveries to competition on an accelerated timetable will put pressure on the maintenance of the universal service obligation and tariff, particularly in rural areas of Scotland; believes that the obligation and tariff are essential for rural areas; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to ensure that under no circumstances will it be abolished or weakened.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
