Signing Of The Eu Constitutional Treaty

That this House notes the 33rd anniversary of Britain's application to join the European Community under the premiership of Edward Heath on 28th October 1971; further notes the subsequent referendum which resulted in a hefty majority for remaining in the Community; welcomes the Prime Minister's visit to Rome to sign the European Union Constitutional Treaty on 29th October; and eagerly anticipates ratification in each of the other member states and a resounding yes vote in the UK referendum.
