Haddock Stocks In The North Sea

EDM number 223 in 2003-04, proposed by Alex Salmond on 08/12/2003.

That this House calls upon Her Majesty's Government to make a statement on the current state of haddock stocks in the North Sea; notes that if the United Kingdom were to introduce the fisheries policy so successfully pursued by the Faroe Islands that the quota for haddock catches would be 150,000 tonnes rather than the paltry 37,000 tonnes proposed; believes that this demonstrates the lunacy of the Common Fisheries Policy when it comes to Scotland's premier fish stock; and calls upon the Fisheries Minister to demand a substantial increase in haddock quotas and enable Seafish Scotland to undertake a marketing campaign to promote this wonderful Scottish product to obtain the highest possible value from landings.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
