Edf Energy (No. 2)

EDM number 360 in 2003-04, proposed by Kerry Pollard on 07/01/2004.

That this House congratulates EDF Energy plc on ruling out either moving its call centres outside the UK for the foreseeable future or, indeed, outsourcing them to other companies; notes that EDF Energy has agreed with trade unions to work together to find the best way to deliver efficiencies; welcomes the company's service ethos which accepts direct responsibility for what their customers expect, based on UK based centres; further welcomes the company's launch of a new final salary pension scheme at a time when so many other employers are failing to meet their responsibility to staff by reducing the level of pensions; calls on the Government to offer support and encouragement to companies such as EDF who are committed to their employees and their customers; and further calls on other UK companies to follow EDF's example.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
