London Weighting

EDM number 971 in 2003-04, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 01/04/2004.

That this House recognises the very high cost of living in London and the fringe areas; notes that the claim for an increase in London Weighting to ú4,000 across London was submitted by UNISON, T&GWU and GMB to the Association of London Government (ALG) in July 2001; is disappointed that to date no settlement has been reached; notes that UNISON, T&GWU and GMB have requested the dispute be taken to ACAS in a genuine attempt to settle the dispute; expresses dismay that the ALG has refused and responded by suspending the regional pay negotiation arrangements; and calls on the ALG to now refer the dispute to ACAS and reinstate the regional pay negotiation arrangements.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
