House Of Lords And Taxation

EDM number 293 in 2004-05, proposed by Michael Fallon on 06/12/2004.

That this House notes that the recent report of the House of Lords Select Committee on Economic Affairs (HL 176) is entitled, Monetary and Fiscal Policy, and lists 'the conduct of fiscal policy' as one of the main issues considered by the Committee; believes that it is inappropriate for the unelected House to report on fiscal policy when it has no responsibility for raising revenue or allocating expenditure; and asks Members of the House of Lords and its committees to respect the conventions that exist between the two Houses.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
