Kidlington Fire Control Centre

EDM number 714 in 2005-06, proposed by Tony Baldry on 10/10/2005.

That this House notes with concern the continuing uncertainty over the location of the South East Fire Control Centre; further notes that if located on the Isle of Wight the control centre would handle emergency calls 120 miles from Oxfordshire; further notes that these proposals do not have the support of Oxfordshire County Council's community safety representative, nor the Fire Brigades' Union Oxfordshire, because of public safety concerns relating to a reduced ability to respond to 999 emergencies; and calls on the Government urgently to review the decision to proceed with closing the Kidlington Control Centre serving Oxfordshire county.

This motion has been signed by a total of 5 MPs.
