Proposed Job Cuts And Reshaping Of Hm Revenue And Customs In The East Midlands

EDM number 1081 in 2006-07, proposed by Janet Dean on 08/03/2007.

That this House views with concern the plans to cut the number of employees of HM Revenue and Customs in the Nottingham, Derby and Leicester Area by around 540 by 2010; notes that the proposals involve the possible vacation of sites in Burton upon Trent, Alfreton, Derby, Mansfield, Nottingham, Leicester and Melton Mowbray; is concerned about the impact of this on services and on staff who will be asked to travel greater distances to work; further notes that this will particularly affect those with disabilities and that 17 per cent. of those currently employed in Burton upon Trent have disabilities; and calls on the Paymaster General to reconsider the proposals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
