Council Tax

EDM number 1117 in 2006-07, proposed by Richard Younger-Ross on 13/03/2007.

That this House recognises the efforts of local authorities to set low council tax rates; notes that many councils have set rates no more than inflation; further notes that council tax bears heavily on those on low and fixed incomes such as pensioners; and calls on the Government to end this unfair tax and replace it with one based on a person's ability to pay.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
