Flying Of Union Flag Outside Mosques

EDM number 1223 in 2006-07, proposed by Philip Davies on 27/03/2007.

That this House congratulates the members of the Muslim community in Australia who have called for the Australian national flag to be flown outside mosques as an expression of the Islamic community's loyalty and commitment to Australia; notes the similarities between the UK and Australia and their special historical connections; calls on the Muslim community in the UK to follow this lead and promote the flying of the Union Flag in the grounds of mosques in the UK; believes that this action would demonstrate the Muslim community's commitment to the UK; and further believes that it would be a very effective way of countering any negative publicity and that such a move would publicly show everyone that those in the Muslim community are very keen to integrate and positively contribute to good community relations in the UK.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
