Situation In Lebanon

EDM number 1552 in 2006-07, proposed by George Galloway on 23/05/2007.

That this House, whilst recognising the provocation afforded by the obscure organisation Fatah al-Islam and the enormous sacrifice made by the patriotic Lebanese army in the clashes around the Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared, which have seen the loss of more than 30 Lebanese soldiers, calls on the government of Lebanon to cease fire in and around the camp to facilitate humanitarian intervention to save the lives of the 30,000 innocent refugees trapped therein, to retrieve the bodies of those who have been killed and to rescue those who have been maimed in the fighting; and further expresses its grave concern that Lebanon is being used, as it was last summer, further to divide the Arab world in the interests of those who seek a broken, balkanised Middle East.

This motion has been signed by a total of 7 MPs.
