Additional Costs Allowance

EDM number 1061 in 2007-08, proposed by Greg Mulholland on 27/02/2008.
Categorised under the topics of House of Commons, Incomes and poverty, Members of Parliament, Ministers, Pay and Public expenditure.

That this House believes that those hon. Members and Ministers who are provided with accommodation at public expense as a consequence of their specific responsibilities should not be entitled to the additional costs allowance provided to meet the costs associated with necessary second homes; further believes that the current review of hon. Members' allowances should include a thorough examination of the purpose and use of the additional costs allowance, including the rules governing payments to cover rents and mortgages; and urges those conducting the review to recommend changes to the rules regarding eligibility for the additional costs allowance accordingly.

This motion has been signed by a total of 7 MPs.
