Scottish Defence Industry

EDM number 1901 in 2007-08, proposed by John Robertson on 25/06/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Defence equipment and procurement, Industry and Manufacturing industries.

That this House welcomes the Scottish Affairs Select Committee Report into the defence industry and its conclusion that the union is integral to future business, jobs and investment; expresses its disappointment that the Scottish National Party has again sought to create uncertainty in the industry with constant speculation and scurrilous rumours over defence contracts; condemns the knee-jerk motion in the Scottish Parliament from Sandra White attacking the conclusions and members of a cross-party committee and evidence from business; and commits itself to continue working with the Government, which has created jobs and investment with repeated defence contracts, to support the defence industry in Scotland.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
