Taxation On Buy To Let Property

EDM number 1084 in 2009-10, proposed by Gordon Prentice on 15/03/2010.
Categorised under the topics of Private rented housing and Taxation.

That this House notes with concern a reported proposal from HM Treasury to introduce a tax break to benefit buy to let house purchasers; fears that there would be an adverse effect on first-time buyers who would be competing for the same properties, but at a disadvantage, thus compounding the already severe difficulties faced by first-time buyers seeking family homes; and therefore urges HM Treasury not to proceed with any such proposal.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
