Funeral Payments

EDM number 1134 in 2010-12, proposed by John Mann on 06/12/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Bereavement benefits.

That this House notes thata person applying for a funeral payment must enter the name of a funeral director on the SF200 form; further notes that a funeral director will not accept instructions to arrange a funeral without guarantee that they will be paid for their work; believes that this is a catch-22 situation; and calls on the Government to reform the system so that the Social Fund can confirm quickly if an applicant is eligible so that the applicant can then arrange the funeral.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
