National Energy Action Campaign

EDM number 1190 in 2010-12, proposed by Alan Meale on 13/12/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Fuel poverty.

That this House is aware that today in the UK five and a half million households are deemed to be living in fuel poverty, a situation made considerably worse by rising fuel prices; is concerned that more needs to be done to arrest preventable excess winter deaths, which last year in England alone amounted to 34,200 mainly elderly people; congratulates the organisation National Energy Action on its work campaigning for ways of combating such needless loss; and calls on the Government to support its work to ensure vulnerable households are free from health risks posed by damp homes.

This motion has been signed by a total of 29 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
