Teesside's Transporter Bridge

EDM number 1494 in 2010-12, proposed by Tom Blenkinsop on 01/03/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Cultural heritage.

That this House supports Teesside's Transporter Bridge's bid for the UNESCO title; notes that the World Association of Transporters Bridges, headed by the King of Spain, is leading the bid; recognises that the bridge is a Grade II listed building which was built in 1911 and is an historic icon, integral to Teesside's history; and further notes that the title would offer the opportunity for the Transporter Bridge to join the ranks of the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China as a World Heritage site which would, in turn, boost the local economy through tourism and educational visits.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
