Memorial For Sir Simon Milton

EDM number 2202 in 2010-12, proposed by Keith Vaz on 10/10/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Local government.

That this House notes the sad news of the death of Sir Simon Milton, an outstanding civic leader, who was held in high affection across the political spectrum for his modesty, integrity and warmth; recognises that in September 2011 London First posthumously awarded him its Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to London, which included being Leader of Westminster City Council, a post he held for a record eight years andDeputy Mayor of London and thenChief of Staff to the Mayor; and considers it appropriate that a permanent memorial be established in his honour in the City of Westminster as a reminder of a distinguished life lived in the service of others.
