Dow Chemical Company's Sponsorship Of London 2012

EDM number 2207 in 2010-12, proposed by Keith Vaz on 10/10/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Sports.

That this House is deeply concerned that the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) has appointed the Dow Chemical Company to manufacture a wrap covering the Olympic stadium, purportedly costing 7 million; notes that Dow acquired the Union Carbide Corporation in 2001, responsible for the 1984 Bhopal Gas Disaster and implicated in the ongoing toxic disaster at Bhopal; is saddened that a UK charity, the Bhopal Medical Appeal, reports thousands depending on contaminated water, an ill-health epidemic and widespread birth deformities; and urges the Government to call on LOCOG to reconsider its association with Dow Chemical Company.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
