Regional Pay For Hon. Members

EDM number 2886 in 2010-12, proposed by John Pugh on 19/03/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Members of Parliament and Pay.

That this House, while recognising that some regions of high unemployment are overly dependent on the public sector, struggles to understand how paying public servants less in those regions will fuel demand in those regions, help to attract the best talent to public service in those areas or reward fairly comparable effort; but believes that those hon. Members persuaded of the dubious theory that public sector remuneration crowds out private investment should draw the logical conclusion and lobby forthwith for lower pay for those representing constituencies in such regions.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
