EDM number 1206 in 2012-13, proposed by Greg Mulholland on 18/03/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Cycling and Sports.

That this House welcomes the Do You Ride Community Cycling Strategy initiative, put together by Otley Sportive to put cycling at the heart of Otley following the London 2012 Olympics and ahead of the Tour de France 2014; notes that this scheme was voted for unanimously by Otley Town Council and builds on the legacy of the cycling successes from the Olympics including home-grown talent such as silver Olympic medallist Lizzie Armitstead; recognises the contribution of volunteers in the project which is being led by Luke Minshall of Otley Sportive working with other local groups; further notes that the strategy aims to make cyclists feel safe on their bikes, to provide cycle storage facilities and to help improve transport around the town's main streets; and further notes that the strategy includes other popular disciplines including BMX and mountain biking.
